My Thoughts 4 October 2020

Matthew 8:19-27

19 And a certain scribe came, and said unto him, Master, I will follow thee whithersoever thou goest.

20 And Jesus saith unto him, The foxes have holes, and the birds of the air have nests; but the Son of man hath not where to lay his head.

21 And another of his disciples said unto him, Lord, suffer me first to go and bury my father.

22 But Jesus said unto him, Follow me; and let the dead bury their dead.

23 And when he was entered into a ship, his disciples followed him.

24 And, behold, there arose a great tempest in the sea, insomuch that the ship was covered with the waves: but he was asleep.

25 And his disciples came to him, and awoke him, saying, Lord, save us: we perish.

26 And he saith unto them, Why are ye fearful, O ye of little faith? Then he arose, and rebuked the winds and the sea; and there was a great calm.

27 But the men marvelled, saying, What manner of man is this, that even the winds and the sea obey him!

Everytime I read or listen to these verses I am reminded about how I am to serve God. I feel this is how all who believe in Christ should serve Him. If you have accepted Christ as your Savior and believe on Him, increase your Faith and Trust in Him. Verse 19, shows that humbling and acceptance of Christ as your Savior. I feel verse 20 is Christ explaining to them there that He has no one place on earth, It tells that Christ has no place to sleep, so He goes to fulfill His work to teach them at that time about the New Law being established by Himself.

Once we accept Him into our hearts and surrender to Him as our Savior, we must not look back. Once we are made this new creature by Christ, we are to serve Him all the time and anywhere we go. We are not to look at the worries of this world and let them keep us from our service to God. We should follow Him and keep our hearts and minds on Him always. Don't look back but press forward today and serve Him now. We are to not look back, and not worry about tomorrow; but serve Him now , Today!!!

As we, like His disciples, when we are follow Jesus, should be Faithful in all things. Again, in these few verse describes, how on their journey, the first sign of trouble the became unfaithful and afraid of the storm. When they woke Christ, He asked them: why are you fearful, o ye of little faith? We should ask ourselves this when we face troubles or uncertainty. As we have Faith in the Lord, we should also TRUST Him. knowing that Christ, is our Savior, and Have now the Holy Spirit that comforts us in these times of trouble. Faith and Trust go hand in hand with each other!!! I feel you can't have one with out the other. I see people everyday who profess the believe on Jesus but live in fear. In 2 Timothy 1: For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.

Therefore I beseech, always, to others to not let fear run their lives but use the power , love and sound mind to serve God through Jesus Christ and by the Holy Spirit, always!!! Serve him in the capacity that you are called and don't be afraid to do it. God has already made things ready for you. Just serve Him and increase your Faith in Him.
